On November 8th at 2:00 PM, TCCBC held the lecture series “Don’t Let Your Rights Slip Away” in the Shiang Garden Restaurant. TCCBC invited six experts for this topic: director Karen Wang of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver, Ms. Phyllis Wong of the Canada Border Services Agency, Mr. Dean Hsieh and Mr. Francis Chen of the Canadian Chinese Consumers Association (BC), Mr. Jeff Lin of the Tapioca Express and Mr. Michael Hsieh of the Royal Pacific Realty.
The six experts opened up the event with a self-introduction of themselves and their expert field, then allotted some time for a questions and answers period. The lecture touched upon topics such as the consumer’s rights, how to deal with customs officials, education and loaning system for expatriates, house inspections and the rights of restaurant owners. The enlightening and cohesive environment provided for a successful lecture series.
