| Typhoon relief committee just held its first press conference on August 18. TCCBC president Chang hosted the conference and answered Chinese journalists’ question about the mission of the mentioned committee. | Chairman Chang also clarified the total amount raised was $60,000 and the committee’s target was $250,000. The Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) fund would coordinate with the committee and remit donations back to Taiwan. | The Relief Committee held its second news conference on August 25th. Chairman Chang announced the coming relief concert will be given on August 29th, this Saturday. She also specified the mission of mentioned committee is to raise donations from Taiwanese Christian Society which is not covered by most charity institutions. |
| Other than TCCBC, chair of relief committee, all directors will have their own fundraising activities. There are three major coming events: Concert, Taiwan Fest, Thanksgiving Banquet. The committee will officially disband after its thanksgiving banquet. |

| Alice Wong, MP for Richmond and Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism, would like to express her condolence for the victims of Typhoon Morakot which struck Southern Taiwan on Aug 8th. She called a press conference on August and stated, “I am deeply saddened for the loss of life suffered by those victimized by the typhoon. I will continue working with the Ministry of International Cooperation in Ottawa, and the local Chinese community to find ways to assist with this natural disaster.” Typhoon Morakot brought extreme heavy rains and caused record high life lost in recent Taiwan history. |
